This week Parasha is Yitro, which means Jethro and covers Exodus chapters 18 1-20:23 Chapter 18 tells us about Jethro, who was a priest of Midian and Moses father-in-law. Our parasha for this Shabbat, spanning Exodus 18-20 is one of the most significant in all the Torah, because it describes Israel’s encounter with God at Mt. Sinai, and the giving of the Ten Commandments. Interesting, that this parasha should be entitled Yitro, the name of Moses’ father-in-law. This week’s parasha is entitled Yitro (Jethro) and covers Exodus Chapter 18, verse 1 through Chapter 20, verse 23.
