Ride for Life – 2013!

July 12, 2013

Shalom, Y’all!

Call me a procrastinator, or maybe I just have confidence in my friends, but here we are, just one month away from the annual Care Net – Jim Galbraith Memorial Ride for Life, and I’m only now beginning to seek sponsors! In case you’re wondering why the name of the Ride is a little longer, it’s in honor and memory of Jim Galbraith who was a beloved member of Grace Christian Church in Sterling Heights. Grace has really taken the reins in coordinating this event. Jim had been planning to be with us last year on his Harley, but was suddenly summoned home to the Lord just two weeks before the ride. Together with Pastor Jerry, with whom Jim was very good friends, we decided to amend the name of the ride to include his from now on.

This year’s ride is taking place on Sunday, August 11th. I am writing to ask you to please consider sponsoring me. As always, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Care Net Center Berkley/Detroit. I started the Ride for Life in 2001 because I believe wholeheartedly in what Care Net stands for:

Care Net exists to represent Jesus Christ and to offer alternatives to abortion-vulnerable individuals. We provide medical, material and spiritual support, and we encourage Godly sexual attitudes and practices in our community. All of our services are free and confidential. We offer pregnancy tests, limited obstetrical ultrasound, material assistance, parenting education and options counseling. Our post-abortion ministry, Healing Hearts, assists women who are dealing with the hurt of a past abortion.

I have set my goal at $7,777.00 in sponsorships. Maybe it’s because I’m Jewish and a Bible believer, but I just like the number 7. Biblically, it’s the number representing perfection and completion. It would be the highest I’ve ever set my personal goal, and I haven’t exactly left myself a lot of time. So I’m wondering if you would respond as soon as possible and let me know if you can make a pledge.

Beyond the need for faithful and generous sponsors, I am also in need of a few door prizes (biker t-shirts, accessories, gas cards, gift certificates, etc.), and hopefully two Grand Prizes for top-sponsored riders (other than myself). In 2010 the grand prize was a flat screen TV. Other ideas might include a well-endowed gas card (i.e., $200), or a certificate for a night at a B&B in a Michigan resort, or some other big-ticket item.

If you would be willing to sponsor me, please email me , and please include your address and the amount you would like to pledge. If you can help with some of the additional needs, please also feel free to call me.

May the peace of Messiah Jesus be with you!

Rabbi Glenn Harris
