Daniel 8:1-14

This week Rabbi Glenn covers Daniel 8:1-14, in which the prophet was given a vision portending the coming of Alexander the Great; the demise of the Persian Empire; the death of Alexander at the peak of his brief but vast conquest; the splitting of his kingdom among his four generals; and the horrible oppression of the Jewish people by one of the Seleucid kings, Antiochus IV. Rabbi Glenn also discusses Alexander’s uniquely tolerant treatment of the Jewish people and his encounter with Jaddua the High Priest as recorded by Josephus (Antiquities Book XI, Chapter VIII).
